A note from Allison and David
A note from the cellar
Our five 2021 reds have been ageing beautifully in bottle, and we’re excited for you to try them. The fruit was generous that year, so we were able to leave the wines in oak longer than we had before. We’re enjoying how the flavours have come together: ripe berries and plum, a little oak spice, and a smooth finish that lingers. The wines have lovely depth and texture, and we’d be delighted to pour you a glass and hear what you think.
Petite Milo in the vineyard
Petite Milo can keep us on our toes as harvest approaches. The grapes are sensitive to rain, so in wetter years we sometimes remove leaves around the fruit to help it dry and reduce the risk of mildew. This year was much sunnier, and we didn’t need to do that. David was pleased we could leave the leaves in place and let the fruit ripen on the vine.
In a sunny season like this, the ripe grapes develop a beautiful golden colour. When the sun catches them, it’s such a lovely sight. We’re hopeful this year’s fruit will make for a lovely vintage, and we can’t wait to see how it develops.
Getting the Barrel Room ready for winter
We’re preparing the Barrel Room for winter and looking forward to welcoming guests for more Christmas gatherings and special events. We love the speakeasy feel of the room and are gradually bringing that atmosphere to life. We’d like it to be a place where couples, friends, and larger groups can gather, enjoy entertainment, and have fun together.
We’re also working on a wider selection of cheeses, with pairings chosen to complement the wines our guests select. There’s more to come, and we’re excited to share it with you.
